Musical ensemble under the stars with the De Hoop Collection
13 October 2009
Musical ensemble under the stars with the De Hoop Collection
6th until 8th November
Could there be a more peaceful place to listen to live classical music than De Hoop?
A 5 piece musical ensemble, including a few members of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, will be performing under the stars (weather permitting) for a small audience of guests at De Hoop on the weekend of the 6th – 8th November. This event will hopefully become part of our annual calendar.
The itinerary for the weekend is as follows:
Friday:
Evening braai/dinner from 6:30pm onwards.
The musicians will introduce themselves and give a little of their background.
The rest of the evening will be spent enjoying delicious food and wine with the other guests.
Saturday morning:
Breakfast will be served from 8:30am
A guided birding walk will commence at 9:30am for those who want to join in. This will take about an hour and a half and is not a very demanding route but will give guests a chance to be introduced to the extraordinary bird population of De Hoop.
Guests will be asked to collect a picnic basket for lunch at about 12am and will have the afternoon to themselves.
Saturday evening:
Snacks will be served at 6pm under the fig trees in the Opstal courtyard. The first half of the concert will commence at 7pm. The ensemble will play well known, intense classical music for this. This will include the likes of Bach and Mozart, Tchaikovsky etc.
Dinner will be served from about 8pm – location to be confirmed.
Second part of the concert will include lighter music
Sunday Morning
Brunch will be served from 9am.
Another guided birding walk will be offered for those who did not make the first one.
From as little as R850 per person per night (includes accommodation, meals, musical event
and activities. Excludes drinks and other extras)
Children under 16yrs stay free (activities will be arranged).
